Summery: While interogating a perp, the perp tells Detective Olivia Benson he has information that will lead to her daughter Serena. Olivia has to secure a deal for him that he likes even thought he raped six woman and killed five. Will she be able to do it?
Olivia entered the interrogation room knowing that questioning this guy was going to be the most painful thing she would ever have to do. More painful than when she was shot or when she had been kicked in the head by a perp and had been given a concussion. For Olivia Benson emotional scars were always more painful than physical ones.
“So Erik. Wanna tell me why you killed and raped these girls?” Olivia asked putting the photo’s of the six girls on the table.
Nineteen-year-old Erik Tyson stared down at the pictures a second to long for Olivia’s liking before looked back up at Olivia.
“What are you talking about Detective?” Erik asked trying to play the part of an innocent victim.
But Olivia could see right through his charade. She knew exactly who he was. A ruthless rapist and murderer. And it would satisfy her to no end to see him locked up in jail for what he did to those girls.
“Oh come on Erik. Your DNA was all over them. You’re not as smart as you think,” smirked Olivia.
Erik just chuckled.
“If I was so dumb why did it take two weeks for you to catch me?” Erik asked falling into her trap.
“You got lucky the first time with Melinda Ryan, Dana Parkers, Michelle Stanley, and Katie Jones. You only left some DNA but no fingerprints and no witnesses. The only things linking you to them are your DNA and the weapon we found in your apartment that you used to stab them.”
With each name she said she pointed to a different picture. Each of their faces was imprinted in her mind screaming in her mind, ‘why didn’t you help me?’ She pushed their screams to the back of her mind. Her demeanor never changed and the expression on her face only showed a look of disgust.
“But,” continued Olivia, “with the last two victims July Carson and Wanda Smith you left finger prints all over their apartments and a live victim.”
Surprise etched Erik’s face. He obviously didn’t realize he had left one of them alive. Olivia knew she had him now. She turned and glanced secretly at the two-way mirror. Behind it she knew was her partner Elliot Stabler, their ADA Alexandra Cabot, and Captain Donald Cragen.
“That’s all I needed,” Olivia said before she turned to leave.
“Detective,” Erik called after her.
Olivia turned back and looked at Erik.
“What,” snapped Olivia.
“I think you better sit down,” Erik told her.
“Why would I do that?”
“It’s either that or you’ll never see your daughter again.”
This was an answer that she was not expecting and it was clear on her face of the surprise she suffered. She slid into the seat across from Erik and looked over at him. Fear was written over her face. She didn’t know how he would know about her daughter. She had been kidnapped when she was two. She would be sixteen now. It was fourteen years ago and she had not spoken about her daughter to anyone since detectives told her that it was impossible to find her. Even Elliot had no clue about her daughter Serena. She had been named after her mother. It had delighted her mother when she had told her that she had named her daughter after her.
“What do you know about her?” Olivia said in a shaky voice.
“About Serena?” Erik asked.
Olivia nodded slowly. She was terrified that he would say that he knew who killed her. She wasn’t ready to hear that even now.
“Is she alive?” Olivia asked fearfully.
“She is,” replied Erik.
A weight on her heart was lifted. It wasn’t lifted completely but it was a start. Hope had been given back to her. It was the happiest moment of her life. It wouldn’t compare to when she got her baby back. That would be the best moment of her life.
“Where is she?” Olivia asked.
“If you get me a good deal than I’ll tell you,” Erik told her.
Olivia nodded and left the room. She found concerned looks on all of their faces.
“Alex, can you make him a deal?” Olivia pleaded.
“Liv, this is six counts of rape and five counts of murder,” exclaimed Elliot, “And you don’t even know if he has info really.”
Olivia glared at her partner. She didn’t need him to put doubt in Alex’s mind.
“He knew about my daughter. I haven’t spoken a word about her in fourteen years. You guys didn’t even know about her,” Olivia exclaimed before turning back to Alex, “Please Alex. I really need this.”
Alex sighed and looked over at Erik and than back at Olivia.
“I’ll talk to Liz. I’ll try to get the best deal I can,” Alex assured her.
“Thanks Alex. This means a lot.”
